Interview with Franco Ceccato – CEO
Metalmeccanica Alba is a Venetian company that was born in the 1980s from a small workshop where the partners Franco Ceccato and Daniele Gasparotto were involved in iron processing.
Today, more than 30 years later, Metalmeccanica Alba is a group that operates for almost 65% internationally, with a management division into three brands: Albacomponents (components for furniture), AlbaCustom (third parties), AlbaPlus (chairs, tables and finished products in the Horeca sector).
Collaborating with Esedra for Metalmeccanica Alba means studying innovative solutions in terms of industrialization, functional mechanics and evaluating original proposals, sometimes to be protected with a patent.
As for the Tipper table, where the Esedra team is effectively responding to the needs of horizontally stacking in a semi-automatic way (market demand coming mainly from the catering market).
An innovative project recently completed is the Nexus chair: a product in painted sheet metal designed as a single chair and bench for public use, rigid and soft versions.
The briefing required aesthetic cleanliness and the optimization of production costs, without visible welding, and the result was much appreciated. The creation of an all-metal chair without welding between the ergonomic parts (seat and back) and frame: a challenge in terms of feasibility.
In the prototype phase, as per the Esedra protocol, the aesthetic, functional and assembly parameters were checked: with the work group all the changes and adjustments necessary for the functional optimization of the product but also for the improvement of industrial parameters and those for the construction of equipment.
Next trade fair appointment: Interzum in Cologne, the international reference fair for the contract sector, where various projects followed by the company will be exhibited.
